Recovering Out Loud
Every bag I hand-stitch is a testament to the power of renewal. From hitting rock bottom to finding peace at the stitching table, this is the story behind the bags.
Recovering Out Loud
Every bag I hand-stitch is a testament to the power of renewal. From hitting rock bottom to finding peace at the stitching table, this is the story behind the bags.
Our Story
I am a recovering drug addict who once wandered through the darkest places, void of hope. Hitting rock bottom gave me the push to seek change. In recovery, I discovered a passion for creating refurbished bags, transforming discarded pieces into something beautiful—much like my own life. I quickly found that I love the creative process, as the hand-stitching calms me down and stops the chaos in my head.
Every bag I offer is a one-of-a-kind piece, proudly made in America. I source my materials by visiting second-hand stores to find discarded bags, giving them a second chance with unique embellishments and thick embroidery thread. Because my creative process relies on finding vintage and repurposed items, no two bags are ever the same.
Building this business has also given me the beautiful opportunity to spend more time with My Mom. She is a massive part of Second Chance Bag Revival; she takes the photos of the bags, handles the pricing, and helps me keep everything organized. Together, we love bringing my bags to local craft fairs and farmers markets to connect with the community in person.
Today, I live a life filled with purpose and joy, stitching together a future I never thought possible. I choose to recover out loud, sharing my story to inspire others. Whether you buy a bag online or meet us at a local market, my message to you is always the same: Everyone, like these bags, deserves a second chance. We all have the potential for renewal.
Refurbished with love,
Renae
